From what i hear one of the problems with the 99 cobra not producing 320 horses is the intake manifold
is their some whay i can get it further more ported
Or any aftermarket or custome intakes i can use
why is their diffrent intakes on the 96-98 cobra 4vs then on the 99, 01

The 1999s got the "fix", consisting of a new manifold, chip, and exhaust parts as a recall. I would call your Ford dealer to see if your car has already had it done.

Only aftermarket is the FR500, it's designed for use with the matching heads and it's pricey.

The 4V heads are great, especially with a mild port, I'm keeping mine.

You could check out your intake and look for either a BLUE or GREEN Dot on the passenger side very front of the manifold. That will give you an idea of which intake you have: Extrude Hone (Blue) or Acid Dipped (Green).

As far as Porting the intake, is a very time consuming job. I have done 4 intakes so far with very good results.

Here are some pics....

Hi sinister,
I noticed that you are well versed in the business of modifying a 98 cobra.

I will be replacing my stock 98 cobra heads with the F500 high flow heads with a high lift cam set.

I know that this also requires a 99-01cobra intake manifold or the high flow intake manifold sold with them. Do you think that this 99 - 01 cobra intake manifold will fit without modifications to my 98 car? or if the high flow intake manifold will fit on the 98 (m9424t46) without to much trouble.

And what do you think the performance difference would be between the 99 cobra intake manifold vs the t46 high flow manifold.

Also, the specs say that the computer needs to be recalibrated. How much does this cost, and who does it? any ford dealership, or any local shop? Also will the car run without this computer modification, as I may need to transfer the car to a different location for the computer mod after the parts are put on.

Thanks for your knowledge!
Cheers,
- Billy
