I know electrical problems are hard to diagnose on the computer, but a little help here if ya could! My 99 has had an on going problem with not starting consistantly for about a month now. Sometimes it will go for days no problem, then it wont start for a week. When it doesnt start everyting has power, but it does nothing, no clicking, ie: starter selonoid. Had the battery load tested and cked all the battery conections, they were fine. Put a test light on all the safety switches on the clutch and brake pedals, they are getting power, but sometimes I can tap the brake pedal while pressing in the clutch and it will start. Huh? Any ideas here guys and gals!

How about checking the starter and/or ground wires?

Sounds like a ground wire to me.

I had a problem similar to this. To fix, all I did was run a 4 gauge wire from the neg. side of the battery to the engine. No problems ever again with starting. Course I figured this out after I replaced the starter.

Does it have a starter solenoid? I have had that exact same problem before and that was the issue. Have also had a similar issue with an ignition module but I'm not sure if these have one... I know, vague but I'm trying to help if I can.

Hey there,

Have you tried checking your O2 sensors? I have a 2000 Explorer and it was doing the same thing...and in damp colder weather it would be worse....does this happen with you? Have you had a diagnotic hooked up? I had this problem for months.....couldn't figure it out...changed the wires and plugs until I hooked up the diagnostic....it was bank of of one O2 sensor....and I would try and start up the car...it would turn over but wouldn't remain started unless I held onto the gas for at least 15 minutes....royal pain the the butt.....check it out !
