Well can you guys first tell me what tranny I have in my car. Sorry new at the whole V8 thing.

Second thing tell me if the tranny out of a 99 cobra will fit into my car. And if it can how much work involved (and any custom fitting).

is the tranny same out of the 99+ GT's that were in the 99-02 cobras?

Thanks a lot peeps.

you have a t45, the 99 cobras have a t45, therefore you are putting in an identical transmission. 01 cobras and 01 bullits have a t3650, and the GT's started getting them sometime in 01, forget when.

I heard the cobra has an electrical digital speedo sensor and the 1996-1998 GT transmissions have a gear driven speedo sensor. Is that true. If it is what has to be changed to get it to work?

you are correct on the electronic speedo, and it depends on what someone wants to pay for it. I bought mine brand new for 550 with 0 miles from SHM. However I have only put about 3k on it total and 100 mile since the total rebuild and i am selling it for 300 due to I jammed it in reverse. It really depends on the tranny, condition, mileage etc..ect....

is there a kit to hook it up then, since there are different connections?

What about crossmember problems?

Why do you want to swap a T-45 for a T-45? If you want to upgrade your tranny maybe you should look in a Tremec TKO.

Money is a huge issue with me right now working at chickfila and going to highschool. I found a cobra tranny for 400 bucks and I was wondering the diffculties of hooking it up. If you guys know where they sell cheap trannys for 96-98 GT's show me the sites or help me to find a conversion kit for this cobra tranny... PLEASE!

Is your tranny going out? If not, you might want to look up the torque ratings of the two trannies. I really can't see two different T-45's having different torque ratings. Although I am new to the SN95's so I don't know a whole lot. But if your tranny is fine and the trannies are the same then you don't have to worry about swapping them out.

This can be changed by swapping the tailshaft housing and gear from the old to the new T-45.

That sound right? I have been doing a lot of searching and that is all about I can find for this swap.

That's what I was thinking you could do. Although you might have to change the output shaft as well. Since the Cobra tranny won't have the drive gear.

You know anything about cross-member fitment issues?

There shouldn't be any. The case of the tranny is the same for both models.

Is that the one on ebay? I saw it today...

I doubt it's new, maybe rebuilt. If it is new, 500 is a steal! Oh it should fit fine, just worry about the electronic speedo..
