99 GT: Mud in left exhaust pipe

My wife lost control on the interstate (i-94) and all that happended is some mud in the exhaust pipe, i can't see how far in. how the hell do i get it all out the best way possible?

Can you start the engine??

Start it and spray water up the tailpipes. Even if you don't do that the mud will eventually dry out and blow out under throttle.

Looks like you should give your car an enema..

Just spray it out with a pressure washer with the car running

I did but maybe not enough, i didnt want it to find it's way back into the engine.

Yes it starts and exhaust is coming out, just not as much as the passanger side.

I love my wife, but i don't think 20 year olds should drive these things.

me too this is my 4th. That was the first time she's ever driven anything with a V8.

i am just pissed right now, i am just glad i taught her how to manage when you lose control, or she would have gotten herself killed.

even if you drop the car ass first off of a building it wouldnt back up to the engine

why not take the catback off and have a look? if being careful is your goal, id suggest this method

Why wouldnt it get into the engine? i just figured it would.

I don't think mud would get past the cats so it won't really back up into the engine. If you don't have cats, it's still quite an incline going up to the exhaust manifolds.

I'd put the front end up on jackstands then stick a garden hose up the tailpipe. Maybe 4 feet. That should be enough to wash out any mud. Run the hose for 5-10 mins, then go for a long drive. Like an hour drive at least to really dry it out.

It really should get forced out by exhaust forces but if you're paranoid about it, use the garden hose method.

It should be OK, I wouldn't worry about the mud making its way all the way up into the engine. If you suspect mud is still trapped inside the catback (as far up as the mufflers perhaps), then remove the one side of the catback and spray it out with a pressure washer...

BTW - Where at on I-94 did this happen? I I-94 can get pretty yucky out there on the eastside during bad weather...

I seriously doubt any mud made it past the axle hump in the exhaust. Stick the hose up there with the engine running (not up over the axle hump though) and then go for a long drive to dry it all out

1-94 and 23 mile, west to south bound on ramp.

Happened to me with the old GT actually. All i did was pull over at a gas station and rev the piss out of the car...I laughed when the mud flew like 15 feet out and sprayed everywhere. That seems like the most logical way

BTW, been driving V8 stangs since i was 16 as well
