My 99 GT 4.6 track car won't crank. We were putting new adjustable struts on all four corners this weekend. We put the rears on and drove it around the neighborhood. It handled so much better. Then we put on the front struts. When we went to test drive the car, it wouldn't crank. We did leave the ignition switch on, for about an hour, so we could turn the front wheels to reach each of the strut bolts. I know that was probably a mistake. Since then, I have un-hooked the battery to reset the computer and also verified that I have a good charge. Still no luck. It just turns over really fast and doesn't even try to crank. I'm stuck. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Ben

FYI,
My battery is new and the voltage reads out at over 12 volts, so it doesn't seem to be a battery issue. I looked at the fuses, but I'm over 40 and I can't see as well as I used to up close. Plus with the full cage and Sparco seats, I just don't fit in the floorboard. There wasn't any obvious blown fuse. Should I take them all out and check them? Or does someone know the specific fuses I should check. Thanks in advance for any advice!

If it cranks, then you dont have fuel or spark, one of the two. Once you verify which one that is, then you will start to have a better idea of how to narrow down your problem.

You stated it cranks fast, so I'm assuming cranking speed is normal? And just FYI, I have seen a battery with 12v not start a car. Mine personally did it; no ams = no crank. But this isnt an issue.

I think I'm getting fuel. You can smell a faint smell of gas after it turns over for a little while. I think it's just not getting fire. Could leaving the switch on burnt something out? If so what? I first thought about the coil. But, I would be surprised if it burnt out all the coil packs simultaneously.

You have 2 possibles here. 1) it may be flooded, try holding accel to floor and crank it. 2) see if CEL comes on while you are cranking it, if so then PCM is not seeing the crankshaft postion sensor.

Check fuel pressure at the schrader valve,, 40psi, pull a COP, put in a spare plug, ground it, crank, see if it fires

I'm not sure if the 99 GT's came with it or not... but on my wife's 02 there is a crash sensor which will disable the fuel pump in the event of a collision. I tripped it once by putting my jack in the trunk and had to push the reset button (inside the trunk, behind the carpet, near the driver side brake lights) so the car would start.

deftsound

Please ask me how much my supercharger cost

+1, hold the gas pedal to the floor and try to start it, that way the computer will compensate by leaning it out
