99+ heads and intake on 97 4.6....

I convienced my friend since he needed to do head gaskets, to just do the 99+ conversion. He got everything on Ebay, brand new from Parkway Ford in GA. It came with everything except the dip stick (which I think needs to be changed). Anywho... My step father is doing the conversion for him (ASE Master Tech) and he says that there is 1 sensor that has no place to go in this new intake manifold... I think I remember reading that you need to drill/tap for a sensor that the 99+ cars don't have, or have in a different location... I'm pretty sure it's a coolant temp sensor, but haven't been by his shop to check it ou...Any ideas? Any great threads or sites for this conversion step by step?? Thanks a lot!!!

Yup, it's a water temp sensor. Just drill/tap the thermostat housing. DO NOT tee it off the other water temp sensor. Mine was tapped into the aluminum crossover section.

Great.. .I thought it was... What kind of difference SOTP did you get from this swap? I know it will make for more compression on a 96-98 motor. I'm pretty sure he'll be happy.

You can use a T fitting, I never had a problem with mine

I went from Im guessing around 180rwhp to 278rwhp with the PI headswap, VT Stage II cams, Longtubes, C&L plenum, 75mm TB, U/D pulleys, and tune. This is through an automatic tranny too.
