The GT, Mach 1 and Cobra all have V8 engines. What do you mean by 'regular V8'?

i really want to get a gt, but i have a next to nothing paying job rite now (im only 17) and theres no way i could get my parents to buy it for me sooo, i was thinkin bout just buying a reg. v8 cuz it would b cheaper and everything on the gt that is different from the reg(exhaust, looks, and comp i think) will all b changed out ne wayz. but since there is no reg v8, i thought of buying a v6 and droppin in a cobra 4v engine. would that work? would i have to modify nething like the mounts? and what about legal issues? my friend said that i mite not b able to cuz i have to go thru the dmv for smog crap and that they mite say no. true or is he just b.sn

i think hes talking about an LX 5.0, a regular V8. with none of the skirts and stuff, just a low key mustang with a V8. and no, they havent made them since 93, and i think they should. i would have bought one, but all they had was a GT.

Yeah, i think he means 5.0 LX

Back in the fox years, you could get a base model, and then a base model with a V8. It was the same as a GT but just in the base LX body.

Last year of the LX 5.0 was 1993. Now it's just V6, GT, CObra and in 03-04 the Mach 1.

But don't call my little LX a "regular v8" She hates that

The closest you can get to a "regular V8" is the "GTS" package in 94-95 and the 248a package in 96-98. Both are 6cyl cars outfitted with a V8, but they're still both considered "GT"s.

Good luck, I bought my GT when I was 17 with no help from mommy or daddy.

i HATE it when people call my car just an LX, like they did when i got it. still even today people think nothing of it cause its "just" an LX. no one seems to notice the 5.0 badges on the side i guess. but yeah, i wish they still had this. i should have gotten a 95 GTS, that would have been very cool, very basic car with 5.0 power, doesnt get more 60's muscle car then that.

The old 5.0 Lx's were bad A$$ in my opinion they look better than the gts, lighter therefore making them faster. I love the way the old LX hatchbacks look but a lx coupe is so damn light!

get a 99 gt with no options(no leather, no traction control, no mach stereo, no auto). They all come with power windows locks and most have 17" rims. This is what I got for $9.5k, it needed tires. Or you might be able to get a 97 or 98 cobra for the same price.
