I have replaced my starter and my battery is fine and my car won't start. I get a clicking that I asume is coming from the starter solienoid. When I pulled the starter, I had it tested and it was fine--but then I decided to replace it with a new (not rebuilt) starter. Symptoms are exactly the same.

What else can it be? CPP switch (clutch shut off)? Anybody know what the symptoms would be? This is my daily driver so after spending all day on my back, and sometimes in the rain, I'm just a wee bit miffed. Any suggestions (besides shooting self or car) would be appreciated!

Good advice! Check the fuel cut off switch in the trunk. If all else fails, get your volt meter and get under your car . . . again. Meter the white / red wire on the starter motor. It should read at least 12 volts when the key is in the START position. If not, then the problem lies somewhere between the ignition switch and the starter -- could be the anti-theft system, fuel cut off switch, etc.

yea man i had the same prob on my 2001 gt. I put some full length headers and i guess the heat killed my starter i replaced and i still got the same prob. so wat i found out that even though the starter is in a three bolt system and requires no shimm it still needs to be alignend with the flywheel. wat i did was i took of the top bolt of the starter and left the other two slightly loose(slightly). Let it break-in and it should find it place. Ever since i did that ive a not a problem starting in 6 months. btw i never put the top bolt on but i did tighten the other bolts.

PS it could also be that u have broken teeth on yur flywheel and the teeth the starter is trying to grab aren't there.
