A/C DELETE SMOG DELETE

Is it possible to delete the A/C compressor and Smog pump without buying new pullies? I know you can delete the smog pump and run a short belt, but the main question is with the A/C.....On the sticke in front of the radiator it shows belt routing with and w/o AC.If so does any one know what size belt you need when removing both?

I have this belt on my car. Power steering is moved to the location of the AC and the smog pump is bypassed. I will have to measure the belt to see what size it is. You don't have to buy new pullies, but you do have to buy the AC delete kit. All it is is a bracket and a few bolts.

Check my sig out. I'll try to get the belt size for you when I get the chance. I guess I should just post it on the site.

That setup works, but it gives me a real "GM" feeling and i'd feel weird having it on my car....plus you can't beat the tensioner pully....it's so damn easy to change belts. I'd personally just get an A/C eliminator kit from Ford or from a non-A/C Mustang.

Is there a kit that relocates the ps pump and still uses the idler?

Yea, that's the kit you buy from Ford...it's about 45 bucks and is stock equipment on any Mustang 5.0 that didnt come with A/C. Aside from buying a March pully/bracket setup, it's the best way IMO of deleting both smog and air.

Right where the top yellow circle is....there's a small bracket that the power steering pump bolts to that bolts onto the head. The bottom circle is a stamped steel plate that bolts to the front of the pump and then over to the water pump just like the old A/C kit used to. The straight lines are right about where the 2 bolts run through the PS pump and bolt into the head to hold it on. It's a really simple kit and is cheaper than you're going to get from March. You might even luck out and find one in a junkyard on a non-A/C equiped Mustang, since this is factory equipment on those cars. After that you just remove the smog pump altogether and run a shorter belt, still using the tensioner just like it always was. :nice:

Man to be honest, and not to shoot down what Legendary just posted, but i've never heard a right answer on the belt size question. When i did mine, i even got the part number off my buddy's car who has the same setup as me and it DIDNTfit....get yourself a piece of string or an old belt, cut the belt and run it the way it should be routed.....have someone hold the tensioner pully up and mark the length, then measure it. Take that to the parts store and buy 2-3 belts in close sizes to that, then keep the one that fits and return the others. I seriously went through a good 6 belts before i found one that would fit, and it wasnt any of the ones that people were telling me.

i can get you the belt size from my car, but i have the bracket that moves up the power steering. it's cheap, otherwise you will rub and there will be tension problems. My a/c was broken, so it was slowing down the belt all the time, and removing the smog pump made a noticable difference while my only mods were mass air and K&N conical filter. It's also a nice weight drop off the front end by the time you remove both systems. If you remove the ac lines, block them off where you cut them, or they will cause lack of blower (heater not s/c) pressure.
