Does anyone have an A/C eliminator on their car? I had one on my fox body but wasn't sure they made one for the 99-04's. How much power would you typically gain with one? Id figure around 5rwhp maybe at the most... I never use my A/C and its broke anyhow so i was thinking of just putting an eliminator on their to gain the extra power and save on weight...not to mention clean up the engine bay a little...

i dont think you gain any hp on these cars....purely for weight loss. ihave one btw. i think i got the regular ford one from steeda. you can also get one from randy stinchcomb. (4106550869). rr also makes one but it is extreamly nice looking but very nice looking.

i think randy is your best bet. i just got a second 8 rib one from him to match the the 8 rib pulleys going in with the blower. the regular ford one should run about 70 bucks.

Why would you not gain any power? It's less accessories for the belt to spin right...I know on the fox's you gain 4 or 5rwhp...

You gain 0HP...even on the fox.

Take the belt off and spin the pulley. It freewheels pretty easily. The amount of power needed to spin that pulley when the A/C is off is probably 0.02HP. It spins VERY easily...it might as well be an idler pulley. The power drain is only when the A/C clutch is engaged.

You only gain the weight savings of maybe 20-30 pounds. That's about it.

For 26lbs of weight savings, I think I'll just keep my A/C. IMO just not worth it unless you never drive your in scorching heat in stop and go traffic. On top of that, you dont have a front defogger anymore. Good for those who dont have to drive their stang everyday I guess.

I walked away from buying an SN95 (95GT) from a guy who disconnected his A/C.

He was like, "Dude, it's a Mustang, that just takes up horsepower."

My reply was yes, and my Fox still turns in a low 11 second slip with functioning AC for around town.

I too would rather have all of the creature comforts than strip a car down to gain a tenth or two in the 1/4 mile.
