Greetings,

I am new to this site. I own (or my son owns) a 1998 Mustang. The A/C doesn't work. As we live in Florida I want to correct this. I took it to Goodyear for a free A/C check and was told that I have: 1) a bad pressure switch, 2) Hi & low Schrader (did I spell that right?) valves are leaking and the piece de resistance, 3) the evaporator core is leaking. The first two items aren't too bad but I've never heard of the evaporator core leaking. The guy at Goodyear said putting stop leak in the core MIGHT fix the problem (I never use stop leak) and was going to charge $400.00 to fix everything (this includes the stop leak). Because of this and the fact that I've heard replacing the core is a long job (you have to remove the dash) I'm considering a second opinion. Does anyone have any advice on this? I don't mind doing the work myself and I've worked on a lot of cars. Just want to get the plain facts. Thanx!
