Does anyone know where I can find a normal black A/C faceplate for a 92 LX?

The previous owner put this white one on it, and I think it just looks stupid. My whole interior is black except for the guages....and this stupid faceplate and the trim ring for the stereo. I guess he was trying to match the guages but I think I'd prefer it to be all black.

The white part is just a sticker which I tried peeling off a bit, but there was nothing underneath it....so I'd need a new sticker or something to replace it.

Any ideas?

This is your reminder

I'm not even sure what a stocker would look like. From what I can figure....this is supposed to match the Cobra gauges....but I dunno.

I just don't get why there is nothing behind it. Just black plastic with the "holes" for the lights to shine through. And I can't seem to find any black faceplates anywhere....they're all white or billet.

The trim piece on the radio I can paint easy enough, but there's no painting the A/C thing since it has the writing on it.

I think the white hvac overlay looks good but check out Caribbean Custom Designs

They make all kinds of custom gauge over lays as well as the HVAC overlay. I'm pretty sure you can get them in black. You can get custom writing and emblems printed into them too.

Thanks!

If I have to keep it that way, I will. It looks OK I guess. I guess I'm trying to keep the interior looking as stock and non-flashy as possible. I even want to go back to a simply black leather shift knob. Thus, the only non-black items would be the guages. Too expensive to change those out or I'd go with black or carbon or something.

Seriously though, does anyone have a pic of one stock? Is it just black?

I pulled off the white one....all that's left underneath is a black plastic and blank clear spots for the lighted areas. No text...no nothing. If I pull this white chit off I'm gonna need something underneath.

What does yours look like?

On the stocker the white part is black and the blue letters are white, nothing hard to imagine.

Your're gonna have to replace the whole plate with the clear plastic, which is still easy enough to do. I put one of those white plates in my car and I had to destroy the stock sticker; I always told myself I'd get a stock replacement at the junkyard since they are still easy to find here.

That's what I figured.

So how does the whole plate get replaced? Is it a sticker????

I can not find a source for an original sticker?

If you got one, PM me.

As of now, I got this white sticker with nothing underneath.

Thats how all aftermarket over lays are. You peel off the factory overlay (same as the white one) and re stick on the new one on. I would say just get one from that website I put up and order it with a black background color and peel off your white one and stick on the new one.

I texted a bud and he was gonna look and see if he had one. Haven't heard back. I'd probably go w/ the web route. Have you tried late model resto?

Its not that hard! You only have to take the bezel off and the knobs off. You dont even have to remove it from the center console!

Yep...I tried.

Yeah I could make my own....but somehow I'd have to create a formula for a translucent paint.....does anyone know how I might do that?
