Can you put freeze 12 in the a/c system without taking out r-12

I was about a can short of r-12 to recharge my system and tried to put one can of freeze-12 in the system and it acted like it wasn't going in. and then a little later my compressor stopped working.

what should I do

You are not supposed to. Freeze12 is 80% R134A and 20% R142B. You now have a very contaminated charge. I would evacuate the system (no shop will do it now because of the contamination), pull a vacuum, then charge into the vacuum.

134 conversion is simple and cheap. Do it right one time and then don't worry about it.

If this means that you are thinking of taking the car to a shop and having them evacuate it, you aint the brightest bulb in the bunch. The evacuation equipment will know the charge is contaminated.

You DEFINITELY should tell them what you did so you don't cause a problem with their system. It will have to be evacuated and recharged with at least a new filter/drier.
