A/C question...

Ok...I'm not intirelly sure what my problem is ... Ok, when I'm driving I have everything turned off(heater, a/c) and there is still cold air rushing in through the top of the dash were the openings for th defroster are. I have to drive to school in the mornings which, when its 30 degrees on a 25 mile trip and your heater core is busted it gets pretty cold having ice cold air blowing in your face.lol. I was just wondering if anyone else has had or seen this problem before and knew how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

The vacuum control that works the flapper valves isn't working right.
Start by looking under the hood to make sure all the vacuum lines are
connected.

Thanks I don't think I could hve asked for a better diagrahm.I'm going to go check my hoses and I'll post back when I discover the problem.

maybe the vacuums thats close the flaps are going out. hence draft because flap slightly open...

I just went and checked and the only hoses I could see was that a really really small hose had broken that went to a connector with a/c written on it....but while I was looking I noticed that one of the rubber grommets had been cut open to accomidate the wiring for my fuel pressure gauge and the opening was wasy to big(big enough that when I looked into the hole I could see my seats inside my car.) could that be the problem? Where does that a/c wire connect to?I checked the diagram butI got confused. The hose is coming from a 4 hose connector right against thefirewall and it was just dangling in the engine bay.

If I was to use electric tape on the hole where the wires are do you think it would stay? or would the heat from the engine bay prohibit the tape from sticking? any thoughts on all of this?

put some duct tape over the hole and mean while find some grommets......for the hole, if it's an exisitng hole 5.0 resto may have some for the fire wall. i suppose you could also glob some rtv on there too temporarily........

You mean hose, not wire. Look at the diagram that jrichker posted. At top you will see the black hose with a "T" that is labeled "Engine Compartment Vacuum". It goes to the "Check Valve". This check valve resides on the passenger-side of the firewall.
