I have my car apart right now and the radiator is out. I plan on doing an ac delete in the future but dont want to buy the delete kit right now. Since the radiator is out I figured I would remove the condensor and lines. Can I do this and leave the compressor in place or do I have to remove everything at once?

You could do that and run a shorter belt.

Yeah, you'll be fine doing that. No need to buy a delete kit unless you really don't want to buy a new belt. But a new shorter belt will cost less than the delete kit. The compressor is pretty easy to get off though....might as well yank it off while you're at it.

well i was thinking of leaving the compressor on for now and just disconnecting it.. As long as the compressor is disconnected it acts as an idler pulley so why do I need to get a new shorter belt unless I bypass it.

Less to spin that way. I went the pulley delete myself. I have two belts for my car right now. One on it, and a spare in the trunk. So I'll just throw a different pulley on and be done with it.

Good opinions here.

If you remove the compressor and either install a pulley or just get a shorter belt, w/o the compressor you are taking weight off the front end.

ok the A/C stuff is all out. That wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. The only thing left is the piece that goes under the dashboard thats attached to the firewall. I have the entire interior out of the car except for the dash. Should I even bother removing that peice. If I do I will have a hole in the firewall right?

If you already have the interior apart except for the dash itself, you are about 12 bolts away from having the dash out. It is a pain though, there are also some major wiring harness plugs along with a bunch of little wires and vacume tubes to disconnect. youll need to disconnect the heater hoses that go to the firewall, also remove a bolt on the engine compartment side below the heater core tubes. then pull the air conditioning box out from behind the dash. disassemble the box to remove the evaporator (the two tubes that hang out the firewall). put it all back togeather. the dash is kinda heavy and its hard to get into the exact same position by yourself. I dont think that it is worth it, just cap off the tubes. or mabe cut them back to the firewall and cap them off.

Do I have to remove the steering wheel to remove the dash? I was thinking about doing the heater core since everything is apart, but its not leaking and I didnt know if I should touch it. I heard that the box its incased in is glued down pretty good. How easy would it be just to remove the dash, I might just wanna check everything out and clean the dash.

no, you dont need to remove the steering wheel but you need to disconnect the steering shaft under the dash. heater core is like 30-40 bucks so if you are going to do it you might as well, the heater core is the easy to replace in the box. You should get a haynes manual from autozone if you are going to do this. Removing the dash is not easy, its not that hard either but if you dont have to, I wouldnt. I explained how "easy" it would be in my last post on here.
