A/C, Smog, and P/S Deleted, Idler option?

Well i'm deleting just about everything, but I can't find a idler pulley setup to go in the location of my A/C so that I can use my mechanical water pump, rather than spend $450 on a electric water pump and march alt and belt tensioner setup.

I think I remember seeing a setup by UPR I believe, but it was just a straight block of alum with a pulley on it, and the looks didn't really appeal to me. Are there any other options for me?

You can rip apart the stock tensioner and reverse it. It'll pull up instead of push down and you can still use your stock water pump. I was running a 42" belt when I had my car setup that way.

www.marchperf.com I know what your talking about with the tensioner AC setup...you think thats bad..I have a 351W so if I go the ford racing a/c delete I have to buy the 5.0 a/c delete and the 351 a/c delete bracket to get the bolts I need and the part of the bracket that bolts to the head.I was looking at the march kit but it just bolts to the water pump studs it seems that would put alot of unneeded stress on those bolts and the belt without a back bracket..I may just delete it altogether. :nonono:

I used the March bracket for a few thousand miles. It worked after creative use of washers to get the tensioner lined up properly.

I ended up swapping the reverse rotation water pump for a standard rotation pump. That way I could put the tensioner back in the stock location and just run the belt over the water pump to the alternator.

I think i'll go with the stock tensionor :D Sounds like a great idea!

Did you have any extra slip going that way?
I did alright, I have heard of some people who have had issues. Basically if you drill a hole 180deg from the original on the tensioner, and then a couple more like a 1/4" and 1/2" either way and pick the one that works and gives enough tension you should be alright.

will the standard rotation water pump work with a block that came with a reverse rotation from the factory? I was under the impression that the water passages would not flow water fast enough in the standard direction if the block came from the factory with a reverse rotation.
