A couple questions about crankcase pressure...come in!

I often wonder how much crankcase pressure I have for my engine, I may be paranoid but it seems like when I go WOT for a bit I smell oil and I was thinking that the oil is seeping from somewhere...

Anyways, what are the BEST ways to vent the crankcase pressure for an EFI 'daily driven' 5.0L.

Can you figure out how much crankcase pressure you have using a guage?

What are the options to rid the engine of crankcase pressure?

I have read to install a valve cover breather (goes where oil cap is and is an 'air filter')...

I have an oil cap but my crankcase line that goes from the oil filler tube is open to the air - is that affecting anything?

I have read in a couple threads to put another pcv valve in the driver side valve cover, but I have aftermarket valve covers and do not want to 'tap' a hole unless I need too.

Is it possible to get a better flowing pcv valve hose(s) straight off the valve and into the intake line as well?

YES

Most likely that is where the oil smell is coming from...
and
If you still have the pcv in place, then you have essentially created a vac leak.

Install the hose between the TB and valve cover.

Are you getting any oil in the intake?
Can you find any oil leaks around the oil pan, main seals, or lower intake to block seal?

I've probably contributed to those threads...

I have never found a 'better flowing' pcv.
That is why I went with the secondary pcv...

I would go back to a stock type of pcv. They should work fine and vent any 302 thats streetable.

Pcv valve in one valve cover and a hose to the intake, and a breather at the oil fill or in the other valve cover. Got that setup on all 3 of my carbed cars and no issues.

Yeah the pcv is still in place, but I have the TB lines plugged for the 'coolant throttle body' so I'm not sure about going about hooking the line up. It has been unhooked since I bought the car...

I'll take a look tomorrow...

Yeah I get oil in the intake, it puddles but from I understand even stock 302's have oil in the intake it's just that we can not see it because the design of the upper intake (stock) does not a removable cover.

Rear main looks good (keith craft installed on fresh rebuild), intake looks fine as well....

I wish they had a larger diamater pcv hose atleast????

If you have oil puddling in the intake, then you need to start looking at where the oil is coming from...

Most likely is the pcv, but there are other possibilities.
Is there any oil in the pcv hose?

To run the hose from the Throttle Body to the Valve cover, you just need to cut a length of hose to run between the 2. Nothing fancy.

Just hooking this hose back up should help a little.

Another thing you can do is install an 'Air-Oil Separator' on the pcv line. This will help filter out the oil before it gets to the intake, and will positively confirm that the oil is entering the intake via the pcv.

Do you have the ability/tools to do a compression test and a leakdown test?

I'm quite confident the oil is coming from the pcv valve. When the intake cover is removed there is more puddled around the 'hole' in the intake where the pcv valve hose (coming from pcv) is screwed into the upper intake.

I have the 'ability' but not the tools

I put my finger over the oil filler tube line that goes to the throttle body and there was some suction on the end of it. I assume that is normal, because it is technically a vacuum leak?

Do I need to connect that oil fill tube line to the 90* curve elbow that runs off the throttle body? It is blocked off via the previous owner. Why do you think this was done vristang?

He left the line off the oil fill tube to open air and then blocked the 90* metal line off the throttle body that it runs too...
