any one have a good HOW-TO on this??
my only real question is where do you guys tap in for your oxygen sensor wire?? do you acutally go all the way under the car for it? or is it under the dash also?

94-96 Mustangs

There are two options for this particular hookup, being the left or right oxygen sensors. The best spot to make this hookup is right sensor at the PCM. This is located above or behind the passenger side kick panel. There will be a 104-pin connector in that location. To hook up to the left sensor, go to pin 43 which is a red wire with a black stripe. In order to hook up to the right sensor, go to pin 44 which is a gray wire with a light blue stripe.

ok...so the gauge is hooked up....i hooked it to the right side one (grey/ light blue) and my car always runs lean...
the gauge has 10 lights on it, the first 2 in the lean come on all the time, and the 3rd one (still in the lean) comes on only if i get into it... the 4th light has never been on.... hummmm

You cant "thrust" this gauge 100%. This is just to give you a good idea of whats happening. The real thing is the Wideband. One thing I think I know is that when you WOT the car, it should be all "green" in the whole gauge(rich). Thats what mine does and I always been told that also.

when its at WOT it only gets to the 3rd light.....2 red ones and a yellow

If you have time, try switching the wires to the other o2 sensor to see if it does the same thing. If it goes all the way in the green, I think there would be a problem with the first sensor you had it plugged in. Lets see if someone else can get in here and confirm this..

They say O2s are only good for about 60k if your lucky. I would see if the sensors are just bad. Like the above says, check the other sensor with the gauge. It should jump back and forth quite a bit, like a light show. It will almost never stay in one place. Downside to narrowband. If you really want to know whats going on there, get the dynojet wideband or equivalent. Not cheap, but super accurate.

i only have one o2 sensor...its on the passenger side....i think it has about 69k on it

My cousin had this exact same problem on his car, except his car is an 03 Mach 1, it wouldn't go past 2 lights daily driving, and at WOT it would be at 3, his gauge was an autometer, except he hooked his up directly to the 02 sensors. To me it sounded like an electrical problem.

-I think we can rule out the 02's because his car is an 03 and had the same problem.

-Even though you and my cousin hooked them up using different methods you both had the same outcomes, so I think everything is hooked up properly.


Dunno, can anyone field a guess???

Could be the ground maybe?
