A few fuel line to mechanical pump questions--carbed guys help!!!

i'm running a fuel cell, to a mechanical pump on the block, to a holley carb. Now the fuel pump has 2 lines the main and return. I do not have to use the return line correct? just the main line, and just plug off the return on the pump? if so what do i use to cover the fitting on the fuel pump? thanks

You can just cap the other side of the cell with a 8an cap. You don't plug anything on the pump. One is for the line to the gas tank, the other goes to the carb. It pumps from the tank, into the pump, thru it, and into the carb.

i have another fitting on the pump already going to the carb. i have two other fittings, one ofr a main line and one for a return line. I don't want to use the return line i just want to cap that part of the pump off.

I have never run a return style mechanical pump, but I bet that line is to lengthen the life of the pump when less than max flow is needed. You should plumb a line back to the fuel cell.

Call the manufactuer to see what they say. Any instructions with that unit?

nah no instructions, i'm just gonna plug off the return on the pump and see how it runs like that, if need be i will run a return line...thanks....hllon4whls--thanks, you seem to be the one of the few that have actually responded to my questions on here.

It should run fine. It is probably an emissions related return line. They were stock on 1985 Mustang GTs for one. It was explained to me as an emissions issue. I replaced my stock pump with a single line model and the only thing different is that now when I remove the gas cap, there's no positive pressure any more. I don't believe you'll have any problems just capping the line off, as I did.
