i will be starting to polish my upper intake tommorow, im tured of having 10 diffrent colors on my upper intake, and have a few questions, i found a good website, but i was wondering for the final parts, they say to use tripoli compound, where can i get this? autozone? also, it says to use white rouge as the final, but ive had good luck with mother's, will that work? also, the wheels used to apply these compounds, could you please explain them to me, ive never seen em, just heard of 6" spiral sewn buffing wheels. also, can anyone give me a list of any other polishable items? i will be re-painting my air intake tube.

You can get Tripoli & white Rouge at Sears, or onilne at places like www.eastwoodco.com

You can try Mothers after the White Rouge, but I wouldn't bother skipping W.R. at all.

You need to consider REALLY CAREFULLY what IM saying here:

It's ok if you are asking these basic questions, b/c we all have to start somewhere....BUT, if you have to ask them, you are NOT READY to polish your intake. You have to know what you are doing and practice on a few flat pieces before you undertake a project like the intake.

You CANNOT skip the W.R. It is more course than Mother's and makes a nice transition from the Tripoli to the final "bling"

You MUST use a SPiral sewn wheel for the Tripoli. I use that for the the W.R. too, THEN use W.R. again on the loose flap wheel. You should use an ELECTRIC drill for the wheels....You need something with high RPM's AND good Tq. Lemme find some pics for you.

This web site shows them

http://www.texasknife.com/store/s-pages/TKS_MainframeStore.htm?TKS_BufingPolishingWhls1.htm~smain

The Spiral sewn gets good pressure on the working area.

This one here is a large one for a buffing machine.

Here are some different sizes:

Here are some loose flaps

Here is the Tripoli (Sears and H.D. have it)
This is the color.

Here is the W.R.

Check this link...it describes the compounds.. I use the "jewelers" compound too as the last, final "bling" step...it is very fine and mild.

Before you undertake this, get your stuff together and practice.
