Hey what's goin on?
A little earlier today my buddy and I decided to line our two cars up to see what they had.
Mine, a 94 GT Vert, with a cold air intake, air filter, under drives, mod chip...
more or less stock... nothing too serious done..
and my buddy's 96 impala ss with an lt-1 350 v8 - with the same, under drives, k&n... and i think a mod chip. His is an auto where mine's a stick.

The first time we lined them up, I dumped my clutch way too high and literally just spun my tires throughout my entire first gear...
resulting in, a bad race ;)

But obviously disgruntled and upset with how we lined them up, we decided to go at it again, and this time, there were no mistakes.

I didn't decide to pop the clutch at all this time, and we were off...
Off 1st gear, i jumped ahead a good, car length anyway, by the time his car started speeding up... right through 2nd gear, i was still pumpin strong, no letting off...
3rd gear, same deal, my shifts were quick, as his being an auto, he really didn't have to worry about shifts... but i was maybe losin a foot per gear shift, which, by my standards, don't think that was overly bad... i'm no formula 1 driver, but i was pretty quick on the gear.
Up at 4th gear though, (his still in 3rd), is where he started really catching up, just up to the point where we were neck and neck, and then we let off at about... 190 or so, breaking 200...

We had a good laugh, it was a good time out.
We came to the conclusions that, considering these cars being completely different, the outcome was pretty steady, where no car was overall faster than the other..
granted i had him the 1/4 mile, mid points were the same,
but i'm pretty sure top end he would have had me...
even still...
considering my car to be relatively stock, vs a vet engine in a heavy based sedan...
a good time had by all. ;)

just thought I would share, we had a killer night out.

Ya, I'll say you do things differently up there. You measure speed in kilometers travelled per hour, but you measure acceleration in time to cover 1/4 of a mile.
:rlaugh:

I guess the 1/4 kilometer would be fairly pointless. Ya, eh? :D

Well usually we mark off a distance by snow drifts...
1 snow drift equals usually 200 to 300 feet.

so then after that we whip on our snow shoes and place our penguins as markers...
so when we start our races, we usually fly up past each penguin to guage our distances...

thank god they just invented the electric rad here though, Canada was beginning to be a cold place.

Caldwell is a very bad influence up here in Canada, because of street racers such as him, many igloos have had mustangs coming through their front opening, and as suspected, many innocent penguins have lost their lives spectating :p

LOL!
from igloos, to opposum, right down to the cattle and cacti

hah! we have the makings here ladies and gentlemen of a pretty solid video game...
"TOP GEAR: The 1/4 Mile!"
and you get to visit all the stereotypes around the globe... while racing your friends at the same time. ;)

"Heaven's to Betsy, Martha! Aur Canadian friend sez dey den been lots o' that snow 'n skiing 'n stuff up in here in JU-lie. I uh gone 'n wunderin where she all in gone off thur... we aur here in TE-or-Rana..."
