Yeah put $1000 in a ROTH I.R.A. and put $20 a week into it and through the magic of compound intrest in 25 years you will have a quarter million dollars. Think of the **** you can do to a car with $250,000 and by then you will appreciate it, insurance will be nothing and you will have time drive it.

How does one fit an a-hole in their pocket? ... unless it's surgically removed from its owner...?

Sorry that I have extra money and you dont. But dont chastize me because im more fortunate than you. Just to let you know all my bills are paid and I defer about 15% into my 401k, and another 100 a month into an ira, dummy. So darkwriter77 to answer your question you should crawl into capridebris pocket and write about it.

Which one? The truck with the latex house paint finish? ... or the Fox with a penchant for overheating? I'm kind of sickly attached to both of 'em, actually ... but I could part with either (or both) of 'em if you add an extra zero to that dollar figure ($7,500).

Would you like an infraction for personally insulting another member?

Wait, don't answer that. I'll just give you one anyway.

Agreed

I'm a firm believer in savings, you can spend the next grand you save on the car, for now put that stash back in a IRA

gtcobra, does the FHP still have crappy starting pay??

It is 2500 a month while you are at the academy, so basically for the first 6 months then it goes up to 2800 a month when you are done and start actually working. Like 34000 a year, not bad, more if you have an associate's or bachelor's degree. Like 500 more a year for an associate's and 1000 more a year for a bachelor's. But FHP doesn't pay income tax, and they will pay for you to finish your degree, which is what I am going to do. I am in school at FSU for my bachelor's in criminology and I am going to wait until the agency will pay for me to finish. The only catch is you get assigned somewhere in florida, that you dont get to pick and you have to work there a year before you are eligable to transfer, I keep hearing everyone is getting sent to Miami. Hopefully I get sent back home to seminole county or I stay here in leon county.

I had looked into FHP until I found out my 14 years of LEO would not transfer in and I'd be starting from scratch on my retirement

No state income tax would be a plus for sure. I had also been told that alot of the new hires went to Miami, prob would be a huge culture shock and a PIA for me since I was raised in the mountains of southeast kentucky

Yeah it would probably throw you for a loop, I lived in orlando for 20 years before I moved to tallahassee for school, and I HOPE BYOND HOPE that I get sent back to seminole county where I am from. I am pretty excited my polygraph is next week.
