On Saturday, SVTOA/Seattle held its first annual dyno day at Marysville Speed & Custom. EJ (myfordsfly) came out of “retirement” to operate the dyno, since he had committed to us for this event a few months before he left the company. We had a total of 14 cars out and all had a great time. This was the first time on a dyno for most of us and we learned a lot. My 93, which I did a bunch of work on over the fall, dyno’d out at 257 rwhp through the stock AOD slushbox, which works out to just over 340 at the crank. Very satisfactory in my book. My wife’s Cobra, which I just installed a Kenne Bell on, didn’t fare quite as well as I’d hoped. EJ shut it down at 337 rwhp due to detonation problems. It’s going in to Brad’s next Saturday for a larger fuel pump and some diagnosis. We had several Terminators on the rollers. The lowest was a bone stock 6,000 mile car that turned 385! The highest was Shadowfist’s dad’s 04 that laid down 427 at the wheels! Some kind of factory freak apparently. We had another stocker that hit 402 and one with a cat-back that put out 412. Terminators seem to be drastically underrated by Ford.
All in all, it was a great, fun day to play with cars. The Club bought lunch for everybody and we were there for about 6 hours altogether. After the dyno runs, EJ took me for a ride in his car. OMFG! I now have a new definition of “fast”. Did the front wheels come off the ground? Dunno, but now I have to start saving for a TT set-up.
Marysville Speed and Custom was a great host. EJ is a stand-up guy. I love Mustangs. What more can I say?
Is it summer yet?
