i just put 4.10 rear end gears in my mustang in over drive about 70 to about 120 it vibrates the back lash is set at 8 thousands i did see that there is a spot on the drive shaft back towards the rear end there is a spot on the drive shaft about 1 to 2 inches wide like there is somthing rubbing it when im driving around town no noise or anything just up around 70 and up it vibrates a little and when you put your foot on the gas a little bit there is a little howl before i put the cover back on the rear end i spun the axle no binding or catching the gears were spinning free and smooth

if you still are running the stock steel DS i would consider changing it to a nice Alum unit.

alot of people including myself gain a driveline vibe after gears, after a gear swap the stock DS turns many times faster than it ever did with stock gearing and vibrations come about.

the alum ds is a better balanced unit and usually cures the vibrations 100% assuming nothing else is causing the problem

Changing over to an FRPP aluminum driveshaft did HELP with the vibes I get above 70 MPH with my 4.10's, but it by no means cured it completely - it's still there and still obvious, but not scary like it's going to rattle everything apart. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I've got a tailshaft bushing that's worn out from all the miles the prior owner put on it with the stock steelie shaft and its wobbliness...
