I'll start off by saying my car is a 1999 V6 it has 180k yes thats alot. There is a noise in the engine, I guess its coming from the engine, thats what it sounds like to me. I've put the engine restore stuff into the oil (when I changed the oil). I was just wondering if it could be a rod knocking or something else major like that. Its like a pinging noise it only happens when Im at a steady cruise and when I accelerate. Any help is good help. please tell me what you think...

Does it get worse when you accelerate? Your engine's knock sensor should back off the timing if it's actual pinging. Does the car seem like it's lacking power? Maybe pull a few plugs out and see if they look normal.

yes it does do it when I accelerate. the plugs were changed and the beginning of the summer and new plug wires but i could check them. I just thought that since it has 180k on it and its giving out but it doesnt seem to lose power not that I can tell

I took the video but you can hear it all. sorry. It almost sounds like something is rattleing around in the engine. It seems like when I drive it for awhile once the engines warmed up thats when you can really notice it. Would it be worth the money to have some shop look at it? I havnt gotten a chance to look at the plugs but thats what im doing this weekend. but do you guys have idea what it could be? I also put a new fuel filter on it. could it be the fuel injectors? Im running out of ideas what it could be.

If the engine is running normally otherwise, it's probably not a stuck or broken injector. You might try using a mechanic's stethescope to see if you can tell where the sound is coming from.

This could be a lot of things with the mileage on it. I would start with a compression test first and a vacuum test second. Both of these tests, if you know how to read the results, will give you a wealth of info as to how things are going on the inside of your motor. How did you first notice it and also, as a suggestion since you describe it as a pinging sound, try switching fuel stations. Bad fuel is often a culprit when pinging is involved and underground storage tanks at fuel stations start to leak after a few years allowing moisture to get inside and directly transfer to your fuel tank. Take the stethoscope and listen to the cams. There could be some flat spots starting to wear. There's just many things this could be. I have 180k on my GT and despite a recently solved lean banks situation, runs very strong

I agree with Robs96. Try switching gas stations. And along with the switch maybe go up in Octane when you fill up your tank and see if the noise stops. Sometimes either bad gas or too low octane will cause a pinging noise in the engine.

What Octane gas do you usually put into it?

+1 try a different gas station, when I drove my 6 with cheap name gas stations I noticed a little knock on in the engine, but since then I get Chevron or Shell (either one will do) and the knock was gone. I also would recommend Mobil or Texaco too. Gas prices suck here in Cali but I think it's worth it than hearing knocking sounds in the car. Hope you get it figured out.

I go to Mobil. but I am going to try a higher octane, I tried octane booster and it seem to help a little bit. Thanks to all your replies, I rather talk to you guys than take it to a shop that try and sell you things that you dont need.
