I've recently ordered an Autometer gauge pod and am looking for some install insights. Since a convertible full A Pillar pod is no longer available I was wondering if anyone has used something other than self adhesive tape such as trim panel retainers, screws and/or pop rivits to fasten the pod to the existing A pillar trim . Additionally, any info on wiring would be appreciated. For example, does it make sense to pull the instrument cluster for easier access. Wiring instructions for both the Fuel pressure and Boost gauge call for a connection to the ignition switch 12v, accessory and parking light although it occurs to me that a tap into the dash illunination circuit might make more sense since it can be dimmed. Does removing the cluster also allow for easier access into engine bay. Today I completed the install of the mechanical components . The fuel pressure sending unit was attached to the fuel rail where the schrader valve was and the boost sending unit was mounted on the cowl with the tubing coming from the boost side of the intake.

Trying not to reinvent the wheel if can help it .

I can't help directly (I have a triple pod on the 94 coupe and a dual pod on my fox vert - the latter might be more closely related).

On the vert, the pillar contours were not exact but you really don't notice anything weird (I did NOT cut or drill my OEM pillar). I put the pod at the base of the OEM pillar so no wires are seen egressing the pod. I ran the wires inside the door molding channel and under the dash. I used two tiny black screws to affix the pod to the OEM pillar. With the pod removed, you have to look for the holes in the OEM pod. It's pretty subtle.

For SN specific stuff, you can grab dimmed power at your headlight switch (that's how I did it). I grabbed accessory power from the interior fuse box - I could have grabbed it elsewhere but the fusebox is close).

Removing the cluster will not help accessing the engine bay (IIRC, there's a metal bulkhead behind the cluster). But you will be removing the bezel and headlight switch (both take about 2-5 mins to remove completely) to access the wires behind the headlight switch.

Random thoughts.
Good luck.

I had a rivit on. I have since swithed to these: http://www.speedofsoundllc.com/ . A little pricey, but looks much better in my opinion.

That sounds easy enough. Just have to wait for the pod to arrive.

Thanks for the help
