You need to remove the trim piece where the head liner meets the windshield and then remove the screws for the a-pillar trim piece. If you have the pod that just places over the factory a-pillar it will have some push in retaining pins keeping it on. You can use a flat head screw driver to pry the pod off of the a-pillar which should expose the remaining screws to remove the factory a-pillar trim (which is where your wires are running inside of and routed to your pod gauges).

For the speaker cover I've had to put a phillips screw driver bit into a 1/4" ratchet socket and remove it that way. Hope this helps a little.
