A sad day.....

Hey everybody, today i sold my 93l lx. I was having a lot of problems with it recently with it overheating and everyhing breaking on it but i guess that happens when it starts to reach the 170k mile mark. I left on a trip to florida and left my car at the shop so they could hook it up to the diagnostics machine, and he said he was 99% percent positive that the EEC-IV relay was shot and that i needed a new timing belt. During the test it over heated and he had not gone over a mile in it. We had found the problem blown head gasket, and multiple screwed up parts. So I sold it to him for $500, which isnt bad since the trade in value was only 650 or somewhere around there. BTW this is my first post on stangnet, this is a really good forum i found alot of info on here and everybody seems nice.

My car :owned:

if the car was in decent condition you could have atleast got 1000 for it. the relay you can pick up at the junkyard fro dirt cheap, timing belts is about 16-24, almost any over heating problem under 200. then you could have sold it for atleast 2,200.

all I can say is learn to fix your own car and troubleshooting it when it's down. it will almost always be cheaper and better

Ya i found out that that guy has been screwing everybody over. I would have fixed it but i kept replacing it everything and it was still overheating so i decided i should take it to the shop for the diagnostics. It turns out the head gasket has been my problem the entire time. I think i bought it like that and the dealer just put that liquid glass stuff in there to seal it up and it wore off. But its too late now the engine is Dead unless i got it rebuilt, and its already sold. On the bright side, I got a new Stang yesterday, its a 97 V6 i bought it for 2750 the only problem with it is that it needs the windshield replaced and a little bumper work. i should be getting it within the next few days after the windshield gets put in.

easy. buy a chiltons/haynes car manuel, removed window molding inside and out, I unno if there are any bolts but if there are remove them. take fishing line and use it to "cut" through the window sealent, remove window, removes excess sealent, clean "new" window, make sure you ought some window sealer and follow the instructions, place window in, bolt up if neccessary, add sealent if neccessary, replace window trim.
