Hey guys. Probably a dumb question but I've gotten mixed answers to this point so I'll ask it here. Do the 3.8 and 5.0 litres share the same AODE trans.? Is it interchangeable?

I'm not really trying to do anything. I just bought an AODE for my '95 GT from a '95 GT. In the ad, the seller said that it would also fit a V-6. That made me curious so I was really just asking for general information...

Yes the bolt patren is the same for the 5.0 amd v6. I was asking becuase they changed the v6 trans is 96 to a 4r70w witch is an aode with the wide ratio gearset. some people have problems with the gearing and have to get a chip to use one on a 94-95. i think in 99 or 00 they changed the electronics some and you would have to swap them to use them on a 94-95. And i think the 94-98 v6 trannys had less clutches but they changed that in 99 and the v8 and v6 had the same clutch count. There where some differences in the trans. I would make sure you got a 95 gt and not a 95 v6 trans. i'm not sure how to tell the differences from the outside but the 6v has less clutches and wont last as long in a 5.0.

Thanks a lot for the info! The only thing I know for sure is that the trans I bought came from a '95 GT. I can only assume that it was original. The seller pulled it to change to a 5-speed.

Thanks again!
