I haven't had a sway bar on my car in more than 10 years. I just redid the front suspension and have been waiting on a back ordered sway bar.

It came in yesterday and the box states a 19 lbs shipping weight with the mounts and end links. It is a 1 1/8" sway bar and when put on the scale is 16 lbs for just the sway bar.

Is it supposed to be this heavy?

I guess you're right about that. I spent lots of money to lighten up the front of the car to bolt up 19lbs back on the front end.

You can always get the hollow sway bar

Then have it charged with helium

Cobra Automotive has one

and I have it. It's 1 1/4", but they claim it behaves like a hollow 1 1/8". Feels fine on my '70 convertible, it corners pretty damn flat. Then, since I have a convertible with the original leaf springs and no rear sway, the rear end bounces along after it. this will all change with Evolution Motorsports' rear 3-link system!

I don't know what the weight is offhand but if you give them a call they could probably tell you.
