So i got my hinge pin repair kit and had plans to install it Saturday. I read a lot of posts on here on whats the best way to install them, thanks for all the info! The only problem was all the posts said to get someone to help you hold the door while you change the pins ( obviously so the door wont fall over after you take the old pins out). My wife was gone for the day and nobody was around, so I started to think of a way to do this myself. I piled up bags of pellets for my pellet stove halfway up the door and under the door to support it after I got the pins out. The pellets are soft and I put blankets over the door to prevent any scratching. This supported the door great and basically made a cradle to hold the door. I was able to install the pins and bushings and get the door put back on without needing a second set of hands!
Here is some pictures of the setup.If you dont have pellets I also thought of using some bags of sand. Im glad I didnt have to ask my wife to help with this project, we usually end up swearing at each other by the end of the project, Ha Ha!
