i was reading one of my mustang mags and they had a piece on intake manifold for the 2v 4.6L, and the one that caught my attention was the Bullitt I/M. The question i had was what other parts would i need to swap in order to get it to work? It said i would need a new alternator, throttle body, throttle cabel but outta curiosity what else would i need?

thanks in advance

you can buy a bullit installation kit that will give you everything you need to make the swap. it consists of THROTTLE BODY, T/B CABLE, T/B GASKET, AIR INLET TUBE, CRUISE CONTROL CABLE, ALTERNATOR, FUEL RAILS, SPACER GASKET, EGR TUBE, THERMOSTAT HOUSING, UPPER RADIATOR HOSE, CRANKCASE VENT TUBE, IAC VALVE INLET TUBE, INTAKE GASKETS, UNDER INTAKE HOSE, JUMPER FOR REAR CROSS OVER

what year is your car? if you are 2002-2004 then the swap is not legal because it is an older emissions device that was not available on a vehicle sold after 2001. if it is 99-01, then it is a legal swap. if you have a 96-98 stang you must convert to a 2001 spec fuel system. ive asked a smog referee on this topic and thats what he told me. this, of course, is if you want your car to be smog legal.

EDIT: by 2001 spec fuel system i mean unmodified OEM returnless with only CARB EO'd parts approved for 2001 4.6L SOHC mustangs. also if your car is 96-98 the bullitt swap is considered an engine change and can only be certified by a referee.

its an 04, damn i was really looking forward to maybe doing the swap cuz my uncle is a ford mechanic and gets parts for discount. first ill see how much everything will come out to but i dout ill get the kit. thanks tho

wait, i dont get it. why is it ok for the 99-01 gt to have and not 02- 04. i mean i read what you said, but i dont understand how that can be. i thought they were the same car for the most part?

as a matter of fact i thought the bullitt was more like the 02 -04 gt's? in 01 the bullitt was the first car to get the 3650 tranny and so did the cars after that. so i thought that that was pretty much the only difference between say beginning 01 gt's and 02 gt's? except for the windsor vs. romeo thing?

It's an emissions thing. It'll physically work, but as far as it being legal for emissions where they're strict, it won't be 'legal'.

Yeah. You can't put older parts on a newer car. For example, I can't put an '03 Cobra,'01 Cobra,5.0L,351W engine in my Mustang. But, I can put an '04 Cobra,Mach1,'05 GT engine in since it matches the year or is newer. The Bullitt/Special Edition intake is considered a 2001 part.

Why do you have to use a returnless fuel system with the 96-98's? This was gonna be my next mod but if I gotta switch to a returnless setup, it isnt worth it.

the only way the swap makes sense is if you can find the parts used. When I price all new parts it was almost $1500 I think.

the price of the bullit intake intstall kit for all new parts is more than the p-51 intake.

the p-51 outpreforms the bullitt from stock to modified.

As for emission problems I am not sure if the p-51 would have the same issues or not. I don't quite understand the whole emissions problem with the bullitt though. What equipment is different?

so many things done to car are illegal. i know that techincally in maine it is illegal to mod any part of the car from factory ie- getting bigger rims= illegal.

i looked and saw u are from cali so maybe it is differnt because your laws are on steroids, so maybe it is better that you dont swap it- i am not sure.

I was just looking through Summit and it shows the Bullut Intake. It says, "The manifold will work on 1999-2004 Mustangs and is considered a direct replacement part, so it's 50-state-legal." I don't live in Cali so I don't care but it should be a legal swap. In Tennesee they don't much care about modifications or emissions. I like how it looks, but it is a lil pricey.

I understand that the orignal poster is from cali that is why i posted what I did. Re-read my post and you will see that according to Summit because it is considered a factory replacement part that it is 50-state-legal.
