this is a new user name for me but i've posted before and always appreciate the help
i've got a 91 LX 5L and the AC blows cold for 10 minutes or so, then my compressor shuts off. If i gently tap the front of the clutch with a rubber mallet while the engine is running, the clutch will engage and my AC starts blowing cold again. also worth noting, the clutch wobbles when engaged. i checked my 96 f150 to make sure that's not supposed to happen...figuring that's probably not good.
i've done some reading on the forums and there's quite a bit on this but i'm not sure what my problem is. is it:
- the relay that shuts off the clutch at WOT? i'm running shorty headers with no cats (so it's hot under the hood)
- the clutch needs to be replaced because it's wobbling?
- the clutch hubs needs replacing because that's what's causing the wobbling?
any help is appreciated....it's really nice in my car for like 10 minutes, til the clutch disengages, then the windows come down because it won't re-engage without a slight tap....seriously, very slight tap.
