AC......cool/not cool

I have only driven it a few times the past 3/4 weeks.............ac comes on cold and within 5/10 minutes warms up............I pull the battery connection......wait an hour....and then still nothing..........go a week later....ac at first then warms up......

This is the expansion valve. Thats what happens when it starts to fail.

part store part or dealer?........any tips on changing it or better to let the professionals handle it.....

Either a parts store or the dealer, parts store is cheaper, you need to get it recharged afterword's. I had mine done, didnt like to play with it.

ac is nice i really liked having it in the 94 last summer but i dont see it going well with my motor build lol i will be missing it...but we sell them at the part store will

yeah trav......maybe when she has a lot more miles....I'll do some weight reduction...lol but 4 now.....I like the option of ac....

yeah if i was building the 302 it would keep the a/c but i want my car to be a low 10 second car soo i think i need to shed the accesories

harbor freight sells a tool that sucks the system dry of moisture and and puts suction on the lines.

here is the link to it.

i believe that you can use the same tool to fill it but not positive. i haven't bought mine yet because i am poor.

should make this job a little easier.

oh i am also not sure if you should buy a gauge and-or air hose to make this thing work. hopefully someone else will chime in and verify

Good pump. I can vouched for it because I purchased one last year when I lost all of my freon, via leaky high and low pressure port fittings. You will need an air compressor with certain specs to use with the pump so read up on that pump or call them prior to purchase. It's worth it's weight in gold. Here is a thread I started that has some good info in it.

Where is this expansion valve located??

Adding another request and maybe for future search , does anybody have a full diagram of the AC on our cars?

Just a update for anyone in the future..........................high pressure switch..........................we are now good to go on the cold.......

I was just going to say you need to bypass your LPS and HPS to see if they are the culprits. You can buy a gauge at autozone to test the low side pressure if you think you may be low on charge and add some if necessary.

Yeah...I was going to do this but I ran out of time and said the hell with it...took it Belle Tire....hung out....129.00 later and a new switch and system was vac'd and charged........



and then later today Alt and Battery went T O A S T.......lol.....battery was under warranty..so that was NO charge......alt was 139.99 lifetime warranty from AZ....Oh well....now gotta order some wires and looms...
