AC Delete Kit

Hey guys I bought a AC Delete Kit over the weekend, and was wondering if how hard it is to do? Is there any tricks to taking it out. It is the kit that relocates the power steering pump.

no tricks...but can be tricky.... depends which kit it is.

is it the motorsport that makes like a non ac car ? or w/ an idler pulley?

Its like the motorsports one because he said it relocates the power steering. It is very easy. Did you get a new belt?

yeah, before doing it, make sure you have the belt. lol other wise your car might be down, until you can get one. i bought Marches AC/PS delete kit. BUT, if i want to delete both(which i did) it also deletes the smog pump. i guess they dont want AC/PS/SP delete in the title. it wasnt hard to install, BUT on mine it relocates the tension pulley where the AC was. when i put it on, everything looked fine, but the pulley was slightly out of alignement with the rest of the pulleys. so i just used a couple washers as shims. and it works beautifully.

It's not hard to do, I deleted A/C and smog at the same time on mine. Definately have to have a new belt, some disconnect tools, and some hand tools. There's a diagram somewhere on here that shows how to route the belt and so on. Do a thread search. Also, measuring the belt is tricky, I've heard using a string and routing it correctly, then measure it. I made about 4 trips to the part store before getting the correct belt for mine.

How big of a belt do you need I have the smog already deleted.

here is some pics of the ford delte kit on a 351. the hardest part is taking the time to shim the pump with washers until you can get it to where the belt stays on all the pullies.

Just be sure to take your car to a shop and have them discharge the a/c system. You'd be releasing some pretty nasty chemicals into the air if you do it yourself.

I'm not sure about belt size at the moment, but I'll be sure to look tomorrow. My A/C was already out of freon, so I didn't have to worry about taking it to somebody.

I think mine is a Gates 70 inch belt, but don't hold me to it. I'd measure twice, goto the parts store once.

i think its a 72 or 72.5 inch belt.

What is the easiest way to measure it.

my ac delete wasn't that hard. I had the FMS kit and the hardest part was gettign the correct belt. I believe it was the 70.5" one the fit(I have no smog) It was real tight at first but it was the only one that fit.

What is the easiest way to measure it.

Supposedly you can measure it with a long piece of string, wrapped around the pulleys like the belt. I have tried this several times though, and have had to go to the parts store at least twice, everytime.

after getting the length measured with the string, add about two to four inches to that number. you have to account for the tensioner in with the system.

no, you want to subtract about two inches from the number since when you measure it more than likely the tensioner will be all the way out if there is no belt on it

i bypass the tensioner when i measure it. for me it was straight from a/c compressor to the alt.
