AC delete ?'s

I'm yanking the ac and smog pump off my coupe and am going by the diagrams I've found on here. The problem is I am keeping the power steering for now and if I use the routing from the diagrams the belt is going to rub on itself between the waterpump pully and the power steering pully, is the're a different routing I need or is there a braket I need to buy to move the powersteering pump up higher?

use the for racing a/c delete kit... it moves the power steering up to where the a/c was and you wont have any rubbing issues... cause i have a/c and smog removed with that kit...

That sticker on your radiator core support is extremely misleading. I have NEVER seen anyone sucessfully route their belt that way with the power steering in the low location without it rubbing on the water pump part of the belt. Otherwise, why would Ford sell a relocation kit...which is the very same part that was used on non-A/C equipped cars?

Unless you have the cash for a nice March pulley/bracket setup, go with the Ford Racing kit...it's about $50.

I believe what you're talking about is an idler pulley that bolts in place of the A/C compressor. To me this is kinda silly and i would only ever consider it if i knew i was going to go back to A/C at some point. The main idea is to achieve a shorter belt path, which reduces drag. The A/C pulley spins freely when the compressor isn't switched on, so you're really not gaining anything except for the loss in weight from the pump. From a performance viewpoint, the relocation kit is a better choice.

+1 on the Ford racing a/c delete. very simple to install and you have a factory look.
I'm with 85_SS_302_Coupe, the other kits basically install another pulley in place of the a/c, another part failure to worry about and it clutters the engine bay.

yea I noticed that... buy a bracket with a pully on it just to run a stock length belt? eff that besides, it doesnt get hot enough here in oregon to warrant air conditioning so I'd rather get rid of the weight.
