Vacuum line that runs thru firewall to a canister behind glove was brittle and broke at firewall. Have a nice flexible one I got from a salvage yard. The problem is once I feed new vacuum line thru the firewall it hits something about a inch and a half inside the car. I can't see or feel where it's hitting. I tried rigid mechanics wire to see or feel once again nothing. Anyone out there gone thru this issue? I'm at my wits end. I hope I don't have to remove the dash. Help!!!

Parts stores have brand spanking [new] vacuum line. You can even buy it by the roll!

I think he is speaking about that hard plastic tube, that comes from the vacuum check valve. First, even if it’s damaged, you should use your vacuum tester to see if the line inside the compartment is still good. To do that, turn the HVAC control levers to off, add ACH your tester to the line, and see if it will hold a vacuum. If it does, find a vacuum hose small enough to seal ot the line you have access to, and attach to the check valve.
