Accel coilpacks + OEM Ford 8mm wires

Hey all, just wondering if Accel coilpacks will work with my Ford 8mm plug wires. I know with the Screamin' Demon coil packs, you need to get Livewires because the output voltage is too high for stock wires, but is this the case with Accel coils? I only ask because I can get them for $45/ea, but if I need to get new wires too, then its not such a good deal. These are the specs... Thanks!

Coil Internal Construction: Epoxy
Maximum Voltage: 42,000 V
Turns Ratio: 85:1
Primary Resistance: 0.500 ohms
Secondary Resistance: 11.6K ohms

Would you recommend just getting stock motorcraft replacements instead?

The only aftermarket coil packs you have to run a different
plug wire with is the Scream'in Demon coil packs.With the Accel
coil packs you can run the OEM Ford plug wires.The only
difference is the resistance of the plug wires.The Accel coil
packs are not too hot for the OEM Ford plug wires.
The difference between the OEM Ford coil packs and the
Accel coil packs is the output voltage is higher with the
Accel's.

ok thanks man. have you had any experience with Accel's products? If they're crap, I will gladly shell out the extra cash for Motorcraft replacements, even if they are rated at a lower voltage.

I have some stock packs in my utility room if you want them. About 100K on them though. Make offer.

I have Accel coil packs on my car because my Ford OEM coil packs
went bad not too long ago.The Accel's are pretty good and the Accel
coil packs result in higher energy and voltage outputs and longer
arc duration than the Ford OEM coil packs.You will find that the Ford OEM
coil pack replacements will be more expensive than the Accel coil packs.
I would go with the Accel's that's what I got and I am happy with them.

hmm okay cool. So they will work with my 8mm wires and plat. plugs? Also, how did you know your coil packs were going bad?

That's about what they do now. Keeps weight on the box on top of my freezer.

I was having charging problems with my car and I had my mechanic do
a electrical check on my car.My mechanic told me that my coil packs
and battery was bad so, I got the Accel coil packs and a new Motorcraft
battery.The Accel coil packs will work fine with 8mm wires and platinum
plugs.I am running Ford OEM plug wires and Ford Motorcraft platinum plugs
with my Accel coil packs and it works great with no problems.
Get the Accel coil packs you won't be sorry!
