Cam gears... bring back the memory from back in the day when I was a ricer...
here's my .02
way i understand it is that cam gears are rather useless unless you have hotter cams, computers to mess with fuel, timing, and sparks, and i don't see any of these in your sig.
Basically, You'll need to strap your car to the dyno, run the piss out of it, see what your making, monitor fuel curve, timing, and all, set the base line, then stop the car, adjust them, and ran it again, and see whats going on.
Now gear itself may not be expensive. But repeated dyno run is. and this is part i can't figure out about cam gears in 4.6 is that you can not run your engine with gears exposed, like you can with most Hondah and toyotah 4 bangers, as camgear in 4.6 is hidden behind front cover. which means disassembry of front cover between each run.
This can get expensive really really fast.
Cam gears needs to be tighten every few days to make sure that bolts are not lose. if it become lose, then cam timing is off. Now, this may not be that big of deal in some engine (Like Older Toyota engine with letter "G" in their designation, like 4A-GE, or 6M-GTE as they were non interfering motor. donno about hondahs and Nissans), but I do belive 4.6 IS an interfereing engine. that means if gear becomes lose, and timeing become off, piston and valve is gonna makeout. You have noways to check the bolts as gears are again, hidden behind not so easy to take off front cover.
And all this - you get in best case - few hp, and few ft-lb. My old MR2 with 4A-GE after several weeks of messing with A/F ratio, timing, and HKS 276 cams, i got 6hp @ 7900RPM, and i think gain avg'ed around 3 in entire RPM range(and don't remenber what the torque gain was. But remenber, i was ricer. its all about HP/Liter. Tq was not important

, plus it was almost 10 years ago). Being 4.6, you might get few more.
I can think of other ways to make our engine make this much power, if not more, much cheaper, easier and frankly, much safer, say Diablo??
You said you never bought the cam gear before. I'd say keep it that way
