How tight is the cable suppose to be? I went to finally do the first time start up and it will turn over and all but sounds like something is grinding somewhere and the clutch is the only thing I can think of by how it sounds

I adjust the cable to zero lash. That is, I remove all the freeplay (and perhaps add a smidge of preload) and call it good.

If its a chattering sound then its probably the throwout bearing making noise on the throwout bearing shaft. You will then need to inspect to see if it messed up the aluminum one and if it did then replace it with the ford aftermarket steal one from 5.0resto. Sounds like the problem I had with adjustable cables I could not find the right adjustment and kept snapping cables so I got a stock adjustable cable from 5.0resto and use the firewall adjuster an pawl from steeda. I think is has alot to do with the adjuster on the cable bending at a bad angle when the clutch fork is engauged because that were mine snapped. Hope you dont have to go though this its not fun.
