Adjusting TPS Voltage.

Hey i went out and bought a digital multi-meter so i can see what my TPS is set to..So i pierced the two wires with a pin and turn the key on, engine off and tested it.. It says 3.84 Is that normal? I have the multi meter set on the setting which it says to have it on in the instruction manual if your testing any type of positioning sensor on your car. Any advice??

Um.......... I think at idle (throttle closed, engine does not have to be running to get the reading) it's supposed to be around 1.0 volts, and under WOT it's supposed to be 4.5 or so.

Just go to normal volt testing on your meter. Turn ignition ON but dont start the car (so accessorys come on, and u can hear fuel pump).

Then pierce the grey/white with the pos end of the meter, put the neg. end of the meter to a good ground. (i found the alternator works good, where its bolted on I shove it in that crack).

Should be .98 It will probaly read 1.08-1.15 just a guess. But if it does you will probaly need to enlogate the holes in the tps where the bolts go thru. Drill them larger so it can rotate more to drop the voltage.

Kris, 94\95s don't need to be adjusted as they're self adjusting via the computer. The fox stangs are the ones that need to be manually adjusted.

I find it funny that people say that, yet it made a HUDGE diffrence for me in my hanging idle/general idle of my car.

I dont see an issue with this line of thinking. But I doubt idle surge issues were designed into the programming, so I dont see any issues with anyone checking their TPS and adjusting it, esp if having issues (even though they should not have to).

FWIW, foxes zero out the TPS reading upon start up as well.

wider, you cant make them deeper, I mean the ones on the plastic TPS sensor its self, the holes where the bolts go thru and bolt to your TB.

I also don't see how it would hurt anything to check the voltage.

I got a gut feeling that if you find it to be any where less than 1.00 volt or just under 1.00 volts...........
your effort to adjust it won't yield any noticable results.

If you want to adjust it ... go for it ... you ain't gonna hurt anything.

OTOH.......if it is pretty far above 1.00 volts then it would seem to me that sumpin just ain't right, lol.
