ADS Superchip removal?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What benefit am I getting with that chip in there? Should I ditch it and bump the timing? Can the chip 'tune' the motor better than I can without it?

Garystocker, I have the same ADS chip, the local Mustang guru said that there were two chips put out by Superchip back around the time I bought mine (1993ish). He said the actual Superchip brand chips were good, but the ADS Superchips were junk. So now I'm contemplating removing mine. Several people on here have told me that all these chips did (at least the ones for speed density cars) were bump the timing...which we can do ourselves.

As possible proof of these chips being junk, I'm having a problem with my '88GT sorta doing a quick hickup when I give it a quick rev. The guru said I probably should try bumping my timing up a bit...thus the chip didn't do it...thus making it junk! Hope this helps.

Back in the day one of the magaiznes actually tested three different chips compared to bumping the timing up. Just changing the timing was equal to or better than the chips. Can't argue with those kind of results.
