Just a quick question. Wich way do you turn the distributor to advance timing? Isn't it counter clockwise? Trying to help a friend out so he can get his car to my house and we can time it with a light.
Clockwise advances your timing. Do not do anything to your dizzy without a timing light. Simply hook up your timing light, loosen your dizzy's (distributors) lock screw so you can rotate it *DO NOT COMPLETELY REMOVE* just loosen it a very little so you can turn it but be sure to keep it still tight, pull the SPOUT plug on the fenderwall if its a 94-95 (little grey plug looking thing) put it somewhere safe and then fire up the car let it idle out check the base timing where its at before you move anything if its stock it should be reading 10* BTDC advance it slowly to say 12* or 14* give it some gas make sure the motor is not shaking or pinging. if its still idling nice shut it down and put the SPOUT plug back in. Take it for a ride see how it runs do not get to wild on it because it is pings you can seriously damage stuff. Hopefully that helps. Also anything about 10* means you must be using higher than say 89 octange fuel.
