Because I want to retain proper belt length so that when I go to install the supercharger in 2 weeks that I am not having to guess what size belt to run, especially with the relocation bracket the s/c install will require.
Deleting the a/c adds absolutely no HP at all. The a/c clutch freewheels when the a/c isn't on. And the computer turns the a/c off at full throttle even if the driver hasn't. The only benefit to removing all the a/c equipment is a weight reduction -- which could be noticeable. Not sure how in the heck weight loss is gonna show up on the dyno though....
i was thinking about that too. its all in the mind if you gain more power by putting on a a/c delete(idler pulley kind)...like u said it freewheels anyways, i dont see why everybody says o take off ur a/c compressor, youll gain hp since it doesnt have to turn it over i took all my a/c equipment off and still have my compressor on, imo the idler pulley kit for it looks pretty ugly too, i would do the p/s relocation kit if anything, makes it look ALOT better then a aluminum bracket in a huge gaping hole with a pulley on it, and i think theyre about the same price too
I ditched the A/C because it was dead...and I didn't feel the need to rebuild and convert it to R134a. Hopefully I won't regret this when summer comes...but it is not my daily driver anymore...so...we shall see.
