I know some of you guys are thinking "search previous threads!!" I've already gone through quite a few threads and have gained some good advice but i'd like to hear some of your thoughts on my car specifically. I own a '93 5.0 LX notch that still has the complete factory exhaust and a full exhaust system is the first mod on my list for the spring. I bought the car last July (3:73 gears and pro 5.0 shifter) and am not exactly sure what my plans are for the future with it. The question is this, with my basically factory set up, what would you recommend for me? I'm debating on whether long tube headers as apposed to shorty headers are worth the cost and effort to install for not much more of a power gain. For now i've made a decision on flow master mufflers with an x pipe (not too sure what brand) but headers are my main concern. All info is very much appreciated, thanks.

If you like the flow (I have them sound awsome to) I would say go with the 2/1/2 american thunder catback with a H-pipe for that deep nice sound get a mac prochamber H-pipe...also I think long tubes are worth it I would have gone with them if i didnt already have the bbk shortys on my car...

I wouldn't bother doing aftermarket headers unless you plan to do mods on the intake side.

:stupid:

Stock headers are good till about 300 horses. The biggest bottleneck is from the midpipe back. Since you do not know what you are going to be doing with the car, I'd start with the midpipe and cat-back, since those will be beneficial either way. If you put the headers on a otherwise stock engine, you might lose some power down low.

I have 1 5/8" shorties on my stock engine.... What you lose down low you will gain back in the useable RPM range.

Ceramic headers will keep the underhood temperatures down which is another plus since the 5.0L motor runs hot to begin with.
