Advice on shedding convert lbs.

All -

I had a decent idea earlier about shedding conver lbs that maybe someone would know the definitive answer to.

Is it possible to disable and remove the convert motors on a 95 cobra to make the top fully manual. I rarely lower the top, but if the mood strikes I would like to still be able to do so. But the motor(s) must be worth 10 lbs or so, and that's enough to justify it in my head. Unless it turns into a Mongolian Clusterf**k.

Thanks all.

To give you an idea of what you're working with, I went and got my convertible weighed day before yesterday...

I've got a worst-case scenario though, leather, mach 460, automatic (4R70W), convertible. Had 3/4 tank of gas also. Umm yeah and I wasn't on the scale either.

Might be worthwhile to run by a truckstop w/ scales to give you an idea of what you're starting with. It cost me a whole $8.50 and a funny look from the attendant to get mine weighed.

EDIT: Aluminum heads are a great way to shave lbs. :)

also remove the 25 lb weight infront of tire on the pass. side in fender; whats funny is it even says its weight is 25lbs

also the dogbone on the front of the axle housing 10lb
tubular k member, alum. heads, alum driveshaft, eliminate the ac and smog pump and all there asseceries
