Hey everyone. New on here but wanted to know people opinions and some advice.
I got my 95GT from my dad last year. He was the original owner. He's done some work to the engine, but nothing big proformance wise. It's got K&N Airfilter, Flowmaster exhust, 3.73 gears, racing suspension(very tight), MSD plugs, and I think that's about it that he told me it had. I'd have to ask him again.

My question is, what would you put into it to give it some extra power. And by that I mean, making it do 12 secs in the 1/4 mile? My dad suggested cobra cam and intake and maybe upping the gears and tranny so that I'm not blowing the tranny racing it all the time.

My problem is, as much as I love my GT and love to street race it(which I'm good at), I'm a girl and don't really know much about making my GT go faster. My husband is into the GT as much as I am, but knows as much as I do. Another thing is, I want people to not be able to tell it's a really fast car. I want them to think it's just another GT. Kinda like a surprise attack.

I wasn't able to post pics in my profile for some reason.
Here is what my GT looks like. I know it needs an engine cleaning, the reason it was given to me was because my dad couldn't take care of it anymore like he wanted to(he can't stand for longer than 5 mins). Also a tip for engine cleaner would be great too!

It depends totally on your budget and if you are paying to have the work done.

The least expensive option will be nitrous, which safely you could get all supporting hardware and a tune for $1,000 or less that will put you in the twelves safely with a stock motor.

The other school of though is the naturally aspirated, which means all engine no power adders. No blower, nitrous or turbo. The most common route is Heads, cam and intake manifold coupled with other boltons such as headers, mid pipe and cat back exhaust. If you are google savvy just type in Trick Flow and Eddlebrock to get some of the most common top end kits I am mentioning. All this will run you in between 2k-3k depending on which parts you choose, but that doesnt include labor. Its pricey, but this hobby is. Also you dont have to deal with bottle refills.

Lastly you could just bolt up a supercharger or turbo and get a tune and also be in the twelves. This is going to cost you around 4-5k depending on the kit. It can be done for MUCH less but generally only if you know what the parts do, what youre looking for and will do some install on your own.

I have two major suggestions, ALWAYS get a tune when modding this heavily and do yourself the favor and justify your decision with a lot of research. Use the search function on this site and you will come up with some good knoweldge.

Welcome!!

Thanks for the suggestions. The work is all done by my dad, he may not be able to stand, but he refuses to let me have anyone else work on it. I love the supercharged sound superchargers make, but I can't justify paying that damn much! I would like to keep it looking like an engine.

12 sec street car is fast
Start with some headers and a good exahust system that way it sounds cool and they'll know its fast. most mustangs are pretty fast but they dont know how fast till you beat em in a race

After the exahust do the cam and a good intake that will let that motor breath and it should be a good start for ya

Then if its not enough add a supercharger or a set of cylinder heads ford racing make a nice set

I would do it slow that way every thing you put on it you can feel the car getting stronger and you may get to 12 sec someday

First i would get a free flowing exhaust and if it doesnt already have them subframe connectors. If it were mine id do lont tubes w/ an o/r midpipe. The head/cam/intake is a really good idea unless your budget is tight, if so spray it!
Oh and uh:Track:

Easy- My name is Jon, and I'm a street racer(we have to say that at the start of all our meetings), and recovery is a process. My family has been very supportive of me, and are very proud of my progress. I've been clean since 1992, and if you need a sponsor...anyhow, welcome, seriously nice 95, love that blue, every time I go in the garage! The powers that be round here don't like those two words in the same sentence-"street" and "racing", so, if you want it to go faster, at your local closed course, and don't want to blow a pile of $, N2O is the way to go. Lots of good systems out there, just don't go huge to start, and remember, the more you do to the car, the more you have to do to make it work. Big spray means more fuel, means bigger pump, so bigger injectors, then change the timing...it all snowballs. A nice set of subframes will make the foundation more stable for your next adjustments, and a good exhaust setup/gear(3.55 good driver, 3.73 little more, uh, dicey) are good places to start. 12's? Its fun, and doable, but think- what for? I like your Dad already, is he adopting 42 year old recovering street racers from Chicago?

I don't think that he is, but I'll be sure to ask him. I'll keep that in mind about the "racing". My plans are to bring it to the track once it's all done. It's not a daily driver, but when I take it out, it's so hard not to play.
