Advise for a potential buyer 95 GT vert

Not a vert fan, but that's VERY nice :nice:

I'll go out on a limp and guess that the 67 has no motor? My 95 sits about that high in the front for that reason :\

actually 67 has a motor in it. Problem was/is that the new front springs were the factory height/rate. New motor is just a little bit lighter (aluminum intake, heads, lighter internals...). Bad job of planning the project==boatloads more power, once I get it running (and cut a coil or two)!

Here's a pic of the 67 motor: 347, running Trick Flow heads and EFI setup.

The good part about doing that radical of a transplant is that it's taking so long to finish that SWMBO approved buying the 95 to hold me over until the 67's done:D

Anybody taking bets on a cat-back being the "first mod"? What odds are you putting up? :rlaugh:

You lose...exhaust isn't a big problem right now. More interested in getting the lift kit off it. It's got just a little too much gap between the tires and the fenders.

So, first tech question--is cutting springs a viable option, instead of investing in the aftermarket lowering kits?

Also, does anyone know what the difference is between Caster/Camber kits for a fox body and this one? I've got a leftover BBK kit from the donor car for my 67. Can I make it work on the 95?

people say cutting the springs makes the ride harsher. i am going to cut my front springs because the backs are fine and i just want about an inch lower in the front. and i am not at all interested in buying springs

i'm not 100% sure but i think fox plates are compatible with 94/95s

Dammit!!! It was exhaust or springs.

I would just spend $100 for a used Eibach Pro kit. (Watch the Classifieds.)

Cutting springs is a bad idea, m'kay? (For any "serious" drop, anyway.)

I've heard of some people using 4cyl Fox springs.

The camber kit you have should work. These cars are basically an improved Fox chassis, so most of the stuff works.

Why is cutting springs bad? I know it'll stiffen up the ride, but that's not a problem. It's not a big deal on the first generation ones, but I'm a noob to this late model stuff, so educate me.

So why are there used Eibach kits available? If they're any good, why are people selling used ones?

Finally, the reason I asked about the camber kit is they are different P/Ns on the BBK site.

Exhaust lost out because the PO already installed BBK shorties, a straight-through cat/H pipe setup. Only problem is he only put on 2 or 2 1/4 pipes. But, it sounds pretty sweet. Mellow at idle or cruising, but it makes people turn and look when you romp it! :D

On the exhaust-"I see."

There are lots of Pro kits for sale because guys get them expecting the "in the weeds" look and it doesn't happen. So they buy something lower. The Pro Kit is meant more for people who daily drive their cars. The Sportlines are more for the "in the weeds" or "racing only" crowd. (Although there will be lots of guys chiming in here to say that they have the Sportlines and LOVE them, on the street. I wouldn't. I think I'm like "most".) Same thing for the rough ride that cutting springs can give you. Spend the $100-$125 and put springs on that are designed for what they do. (I WOULD cut springs for 1/4" to 1/2" drop. To adjust for a "perfect" stance or something like that.)

On the other side of the coin, there are a bunch of the Sportline type springs for sale because of the guys that think "a little lower is good, more lowerer must be better". Only to find out that their Mighty Mustang can be "felled" by a speedbump in a parking lot. (Exaggeration.)

Plus, it seems to me that Eibach springs just seem to last and last. It's not uncommon for a set to be on 3-4 cars, over their lifetimes. (Mine are on their 3rd car.)
