Aerostar Driveshaft??

I understand an aluminum aerostar driveshaft can be cut down and fitted into a classic....


Other than being shortened, what else needs to be done to it to make it fit?

that sounds like a bad idea. aerostars had some problems with the aluminum shafts twisting and making a crunch noise.

The u-joints would need to be changed too.

thats why ford replaced the older model aerostars with a new aluminum driveshaft and it solved that problem

Im wondering if cost would be advantageous over a new one for $300.

I got an aluminum drive shaft from a Crown Vic police car. I expect it would be stronger than the Aerostar unit.

I'm not sure, thinking of doing the same thing myself. Hey, I know of a guy here that does powdercoating, maybe you could get the driveshaft done
