Anyone ever use those? Would you trust a magnet holding them while remiving and installing a cam? Anyone ever drop one while the cam is out?

Just wondering if it is worth the money for my cam install. I would probably use them more than once and if I did they would be very useful.

if you are that familiar with a 5.0 then you should know its only an hours more labor to pull the lower intake if that if you have done it enough times .....it will work as to how your luck goes with the magnets depends on how many nosey people are going to be around the car , I could see one of my friends walking over to my car now and saying hey man what you got these things in here for and jerk one out while im working on it LOL ....just make sure everyone that comes in your garage knows what they are for before they go try to pull one out , that would suck ........

I have a set it saves time, and time is money....and if you use them twice they paid for themselves.

Never had an issue with mine, I do always make sure the magnets still appear tight I have them for 5 years now. When I first got them I honestly was not impressed with what they were but they work great.

Like Rick said, time is money, they save time. Depending on how often you swap cams and such. Don't forget the money for new gaskets when you pull the intake, and the chance for problems when re-installing the intake. Now, someone needs to come up with a tool that you can do a cam swap without removing the timeing cover, now that would rock.

I just used them and they made my life much easier. The magnets are extremely strong for their size. When I first got them I had the same feelings as Rick. Not really impressed but after using them I change my tune.

Pulling the intake isn't hard but as others have stated factor in the cost of gaskets and the even the remote chance of oil or coolant leaks and the AFM tools looks even better. Plus once you buy them you can use them over and over again.

Good investment if you ask me.

I am very familiar with the 302, as I have ripped many apart. Yea its not much longer to pull the intake but what about gaskets? and knowing that there will be no leaks in the lower manifold. Just makes sense to give me the peice of mind.
